A while ago

I drew this back in 2006 (I think) with the idea of turning it into a painting. She is a sort of modern type of sassy princess. I had drawn a clam shell for her to sit in and a scepter that she is supposed to be leaning on. I really liked the character but I got stuck on the idea of the backround so I stopped.....for then....we'll see what happens

out at sea

As most of my friends and family know, I have been working on a story that I wrote about a sweet little cat who makes a paper hat. I came up with the character back in 2006 and have been working on his story and pictures little by little ever since. It has been a very long process, but I am hoping one day, maybe even in this current year, that I will get this book published.
So far the story is written. All of the pages are illustrated. I have colored all of the imajes using photoshop. And I have done all the layouts so the text and pictures are united. I have also done five illustrations in pastel to show how I plan to fully realize the finished book. In the coming weeks I plan to go over my final draft of the book, makeing any last changes before I get packets ready to send out to publishers.
As I put my pastels away for awhile I leave you with an image of my cat that I created, who I realize I love so very much.......

the colors are so vibrant in real life...this is a quick snapshot taken in the studio just after I finished the picture....yay finishing pictures!!!!

a fairy

I saw a fairy at sunset
and oh so pretty was she.

She danced all around
never touching the ground....

for her wings made her nimble and free.

a small little poem by me (and pictures by me too)

Mad Hatter's Party

Last year I did the artwork on a poster for the mad hatter's party, gala and auction. It's a fundraising event for the Winston Salem Youth Chorus in North Carolina. This year the organization asked me to make some changes to my hand written text to reflect their new title, the party's date this year, and to add my name. This is the poster I sent out to them and I hope it brings as much enjoyment this year as I heard it did last year.

I have to thank Redding Advertising Inc. for finding me to illustrate this project and for the graphic design work they did on all of last years save the dates, invites, and poster.
Also to the Winston Salem Youth Chorus, I was honored to work on this project for your event.

Last year this poster design was selected as a winner in the 2009 American Graphic Design Awards, a national design competition sponsored by Graphic Design USA.
